Doha Triathlon

The venue is just amazing. Swimming in the bay of Museum of islamic art, riding along Corniche and the run is in MIA park. As expected the length of an olympic distance was not so easy for me, but I was able to control the race from the bike leg until crossing the finish line in the run.

Start is a water mass start. For ne who is not a fast swimmer it is quite challenging. I was hit, I was kicked in the face and for the first time ever one of my co-competitors got upset with me and pulled my leg. This got me a bit out of the rythm and after swallowing some sea water I just decided to get around the first buoy and try to find “calmer water” and more calm people to swim with. I must say I was a bit surprised about this aggressive behaviour and I hope this is the first and last time someone pulls me under the water.

Cycling was along Corniche and we did 4 laps. What is more beautiful than riding with the skyline of Doha just there. The run is also 4 laps if you do the olympic distance. Again the route is very spectator friendly and as so often mentioned the venue is amazing. Also the organization with Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation’s Andrej, John & co is world class.

Next up will be a holiday trip to Singapore and Malaysia. Looking forward visiting Legoland and Singapore Zoo.
