After my ride to La Bresse I packed my stuff for two days of racing. This time my roadbike stayed in the basement and my 29er Vertex was the bike I took with me.
After a short spin Saturday morning i drove to Buehlertal. This MTB hillclimb has become a tradition by now. A local sportsclub is organizing this event every year in May and more than 200 bikers took part in it this year.
My friend Agnes joined me for the weekend and she also took part in both races. We had a really nice ladies weekend as we continued from Buhlertal to Bad Wildbad where we stayed in a really nice apartment. Made some dinner and just had a good time.
On Sunday it was time for a 83km long marathon. I like this race, the course is fantastic. It has nice uphills and really nice downhills. I also like to do a shorter lap several times. I can’t understand why many organizers want to have one big lap. A shorter lap makes it easier for both riders and supporters. You don’t have the feeling you are riding somewhere in the middle of nowhere not having a clue where you are. The feeding is also so much easier to get organized.
Was a great weekend and even if I felt a bit tired after a hard week I had a good time. In the marathon I just tried to stick to one guy and I almost made it the whole 83km. So we were often just laughing as I was complaining he was mean to me because he always dropped me in every downhill and I had to fight my way back to his backwheel. Well, it was great training for me.
