It has been a long time since I last updated my homepage. April was just a month to forget and I did not want to bother you by reading about me being in a bad mood, not feeling good. I am usually a positive person, but in April I wasn’t.
After coming back from El Salvador, where I started to feel stronger and stronger during every race, I got sick. A virus just decided to bother me for a long time. I did nothing for a week, but I was still sick. I started to train a bit, but I felt so low in energy. My head wanted to train, my body not. This is a very difficult situation to cope with and I started to get a bit depressed. The cold and rainy weather did not make things easier.
I wanted to race so badly, but I knew it would not make any sense.
Since only one week I can train again the way I am used to. So I changed my plans as I started to feel better. Focus was now on getting some good training rides done, racing had to be on second place.

I drove down to Italy last Tuesday for the Rocky Mountain 2013 presentation. I can tell you, the bikes are awesome. So just wait for a while and you will soon have a glimbs of the 2013 bikes as well 🙂 In Alta Pusteria I did two long road rides with my team mate Carsten Bresser. The first day we were riding on snowy roads as we were descending to Cortina d’Ampezzo and riding up Monte Croce. It was quite cold, but I was happy to be on my road bike and do some proper work out again..
The second day the sun came out and made the roads dry and that day we again got some good climbing done. After the training I sat in the car and drove to Riva del Garda. As I woke up on Friday in Riva del Garda I saw a blue sky. This was going to be a great day. After riding some tiny roads towards Trento, climbing up Monte Bondone from the Trento side, riding a super nice road somewhere between the Trento and Riva valleys I came back to the hotel with a big smile on my face.
I was tired after 3 days of a lot of climbing and many hours on the road bike. So I needed an easier day. So the next day I had a nice MTB ride with my team mate Daniel and my swedish friend Calle. The fifth day of my journey was a race day. The Riva mtb marathon was taking place. A lot of enthusiastic mtn bikers take part in this event and it is fun to see how their family, friends and partners are cheering at them during the race. I had already decided to ride the 52km loop 10 days before the race day. It was surprisingly hard for me to make this decision. I don’t know why, but now I know I did the right thing. Already today I could do some proper training and that I usually can’t after riding a long distance mtn bike race. So I am right on time, 88 days to go…..
